Insured patients: Mifegymiso (medication abortion) and doctor visits are generally covered by your health insurance in Canada however there are fees for services not covered by insurance. This includes the online booking service, the provision of labs and ultrasound referrals prior to your appointment, faxing of the prescription and delivery of the medication to you.
Please note only Ontario, British Columbia, Newfoundland, Nunavut and Alberta residents can use the Insured residents option below.
We can only process Provincial Health Insurance for Nunavut, Alberta, British Columbia, Newfoundland and 3rd party insurance such as Guardme, UHIP, Morecare and IFH (refugees etc.).
For Alberta residents: We are only able to provide care for up to 5 patients per year as per the Alberta Telemedicine Standards of Practice. Please inquire via e-mail if we are able to accommodate you prior to booking.
Uninsured patients: For Canadian residents without coverage, and Quebec residents.
If you are unsure as to whether you should select Insured or Uninsured, please contact us beforehand.
Please select a date and time that works best for your schedule, and a nurse will contact you via e-mail to confirm. Please allow 48 hours for a response.
Upon registration, you will be e-mailed forms to fill out followed by a requisition for ultrasound and blood work. These tests are mandatory, unless otherwise specified.
You will not receive the medication until your ultrasound and lab reports are received. The appointment that you book upon registering is for a consultation with a nurse.
Ultrasound confirmation prior to initiating a medication abortion is crucial as this is how we are able to determine whether the pregnancy is intrauterine (inside of your uterus) and within the gestational limit (less than 11 weeks).
Please complete your lab work within 1-2 days of your ultrasound as this is how we will later confirm that your medication abortion is complete.
If you require assistance arranging ultrasound and lab appointments, please let us know.
Your health care provider will contact you once your ultrasound and lab reports are received and reviewed by the doctor. Please note that reports generally take up to 48 hours to be received.
The medication (Mifegymiso) will then be sent to you via courier service within 3-5 days, at no additional charge.
Third party insurance may or may not cover the medication. The pharmacy will inform you or call your insurance provider to find out.
